If you live near the grandparents: What does your family do?

We live a mile from my parents and several states from my inlaws.

Our typical Christmas plans:

Go to inlaws for extended visit, including Christmas Eve, which is a big party with his extended family, and Christmas day and sometimes up until New Year's.

We do our household family Christmas morning whenever we return, whatever time of day, since Santa visited on the 25th even though we weren't there.? We open presents and my parents come over and do their gifts with us.

This Christmas we will travel to my ILs, then to another state to my great-grandparent's and do Christmas with them on Dec 26 with my parents also.? Since we have some fun outdoor play stuff for the boys (and DH) that we want to take with us on our trip, we are going to open mom/dad gifts before we travel for Christmas.? We will still open Santa gifts when we get home.? We are actually really excited about the multiple days of Christmas.

Lots of family = lots of Christmas!

ETA: I have never minded not being in our home Christmas eve/morning since we still have our present opening traditions.? We always have hot cocoa and cookies while we open gifts, even if we've returned home late at night.?

Our household family traditions for Christmas happen all month with getting the tree, decorating, making gingerbread houses, and all the rest.? I'm happy to spend the holidays surrounded by the rest of our families, like I did as a child.? I never "missed" my home at the holiday.
