New Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens isn't so busy with his new job that he had to break a commitment to appear in Connersville's bicentennial parade.
Stevens appeared in the parade Saturday, fulfilling a promise to made to former Butler star and Connersville native Matt Howard.
Howard tells WTHR-TV he was "shocked" Stevens made the parade after appearing at a news conference Friday in Boston. He told Stevens he could back out, but the coach insisted.
Stevens says the city about 50 miles east of Indianapolis is the first place he drove to after he was hired at Butler. A year ago, he promised Howard that that he'd appear in the bicentennial parade.
On Sunday, Stevens was back at work, watching games in the NBA's Orlando Summer League in Florida.
