Wagner Statement on Jobs Report

Washington, DC - Today, Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement in reaction to the May jobs report from the U.S. Department of Labor. A net total of 175,000 jobs were created and the unemployment rate for May increased to 7.6 percent from 7.5 percent in April:

"Today's jobs report is just further evidence that our country is far from an economic recovery, and it's clear that the failed policies from Washington Democrats are only hurting hard-working middle class families. Right now, President Obama can approve the Keystone XL pipeline and create tens of thousands of good-paying jobs, while ushering in a new era of energy independence. Washington Democrats can also take steps to work with House Republicans to enact meaningful tax reform to make America competitive in a tough global economy. Without real leadership from President Obama and Washington Democrats on pro-growth economic policies like these, mediocrity will become the new normal, and that is simply unacceptable to me."
